Bryan L. Roth
Chief Geophysicist
Wavelet Investments, LLC
Bio: Bryan started off his oil and gas career as a tooly/roughneck in the Michigan Basin, working on cable-tool rigs during summers in his college years. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1988 with a degree in geology and entered the workforce as a mudlogger doing offshore work in California, including a drilling season on the North Slope, Alaska. Bryan reentered the academic world at Wright State University in 1990 where he graduated with a Masters in Geophysics and lead to his hiring at Amoco Production Company in 1992. He stayed at Amoco for three years, working in the International Division, interpreting seismic data and aeromag data in Australia, Egypt and China. Bryan left Amoco in 1994 to start his consulting company Roth Exploration Geoservices located in Columbus, Ohio. He was able to use his graduate research to get up to speed quickly in Ohio oil and gas exploration and help smaller companies explore using the latest geophysical technologies. Later in his career he focused prospecting efforts on the Trenton Formation in Michigan, Indiana, New York, and West Virginia. In the late 90s he formed a non-operating production company called Wavelet Investments, LLC. Wavelet Investments grew over the years into a strong production company with investments in over 250 oil and gas wells in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, while continuously generating of oil and gas prospects and primarily investing in self-generated prospects. His recent exploration highlights include discoveries of two Trenton hydrothermal dolomite oil fields in southern Michigan with collective reserves of over four million barrels of oil. His latest venture was a five-year term (retired 2023) at Miller Energy Company as a Managing Partner, primarily focused on acquisition of oil and gas assets in the Michigan Basin. Miller Energy now has over 650 producing wells and 56 employees. Now he is back to developing prospects for Wavelet Investments and industry partners. His office and home are in Traverse City, Michigan.
